Sam Johnstone is one of a clutch of England youth internationals at United.
The Preston-born goalkeeper has regularly been involved with the England set-up since making his U16s debut against Scotland in November 2008.
Johnstone shared Academy goalkeeper duties with Conor Devlin in the 2009/10 campaign, but dominated the position in 2010/11 and played a key part in United winning the FA Youth Cup for the first time since 2003.
Sam stepped up to the senior squad for the early part of United's summer 2011 tour of USA, and was an unused substitute wearing the shirt number 50. He then gained further
first-team experience by joining League One club Scunthorpe United on loan from September to November 2011.
Tall, athletic and very agile, Johnstone commands his area with authority and is a fine shot stopper.
